My Review for So I Met This Guy by Alexandra Potter read by Shelley Conn
I had a physical and audio copy of this book but chose to listen to it during our long, long hot summer in the UK. ☀️ I really enjoyed it. The characters were funny, and Maggie especially, I thought, had a very sarcastic sense of humour. 😏
Maggie and Flick bounced off each other — once they actually decided they wanted the same thing — to bring down the man who had wronged Maggie. 👀
As the two travelled across Europe, chasing a cruise ship, I slipped into their adventures with them. I mean, who wouldn't fancy a flutter in Monte Carlo or a cocktail in Sicily?! 🍸🇮🇹
The twist towards the end was unexpected but kind of made sense as to why Flick was so invested in Maggie's story. 🤔

My childhood dream was always to be a writer. After graduating from Liverpool University with a degree in English Literature, I moved to London where I worked for various magazines. After a slight detour which involved a redundancy and saw me travelling to Sydney, Australia and landing a job at Vogue, a chance article about novelists under the age of thirty inspired me to finally take the plunge and try my hand at writing a novel.
My first novel, What’s New, Pussycat? was published in 2000, a week before my 30th birthday and immediately made the top ten. To date I’ve written fourteen novels which have been translated into over twenty-five languages, including Confessions of a Forty-something F##k Up which has sold over a quarter of a million copies in the UK and been adapted into a major US TV series, Not Dead Yet, starring Gina Rodriguez.
Yorkshire born and raised, I lived for several years in LA before settling in London with my Californian husband and our Bosnian rescue dog. When I'm not writing or travelling, I’m getting out into nature, trying not to look at my phone and navigating this thing called mid-life.
